Penn Squall Mag Cast Star Drag Reels Feature:
Both Squall sizes offer a quick high-speed gear ratio (6 to 1) with their
high-strength marine grade bronze alloy main gear and precision-machined stainless steel pinion gear.
Penn's HT-100 drag washers provide smooth drag under heavy loads and their Versa-Drag system allows for multiple drag settings for various fishing
conditions.
The Squall's spool features "Line Capacity Rings" which eliminate the question of how much line you have left
when fighting a fish. The three lines on the spool flange let you know when
you have 1/3rd, 2/3yd or a full spool of line. Also if you re-spool often
these lines give you a benchmark for backing your superlines with
monofilament which will help eliminate wasted time and line.
What are the changes from the old 525mag? First and foremost the
new Squall has a free floating spool aka live spindle as well as the new
magnetic casting break dial (old style had a slide adjustment). Also the
Squall has a graduated (small clicks are heard when adjusted) star drag and
spool tension, line capacity rings and a more substantial clicker.
